High-rise buildings in Qatar

Ensuring the highest level of fire detection.

The newly constructed Lusail Iconic Towers are located in the immediate vicinity of the final stadium of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The four characteristic high-rise buildings with 50 and 70 floors are the tallest in the desert state and mark Qatar’s new banking and financial centre. SecuriSmoke ASD aspirating smoke detectors from Securiton ensure the highest level of fire detection for the clean rooms on all floors.

The Lusail Iconic Towers have been built in the heart of the newly built city of Lusail north of the capital Doha. Within sight of the four towers is the Lusail Iconic Stadium, one of the venues for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where, amongst others, the final game will be held. The Lusail Iconic Towers are four high-rise buildings, two of them with 50 floors, the other two with 70 floors. The skyscrapers literally spiral their way skywards: their elliptical floor plan turns 90 degrees up to the top. The towers house the headquarters of Qatar’s leading banks, such as the Qatar National Bank, the Qatar Central Bank and the Qatar Investment Authority, as well as global organisations such as Qatari Diar, the state-owned real estate company.

Clean rooms for servers, databases, control systems and other ICT facilities have been provided on every floor of the Lusail Iconic Towers. These have to be particularly well protected against fire. The rooms are equipped with a gas extinguishing system and, to prevent premature triggering due to a false alarm, two different fire detection systems are provided, both capable of detecting a fire in its incipient phase. In addition to standard smoke detectors, the Lusail Iconic Towers are equipped with 465 SecuriSmoke ASD 531s for small monitoring areas and 18 SecuriSmoke ASD 532s for medium-sized areas. Securiton was able to successfully implement this truly challenging project thanks to its professional expertise.
