Wind power supplier in Lithuania

The Danish company Jupiter Bach is the largest manufacturer of machine and hub housings seen on wind turbines. These robust housings for the generators and rotor blade hubs are manufactured at six sites around the world, including two in Lithuania. At one of these factories, the globally proven SecuriSmoke ASD special fire protection system from Securiton has been installed due to the extremely dusty atmosphere on site.

Two Danish suppliers for wind power systems – Jupiter Group and Bach Composites Industry – joined forces in 2017 and founded Jupiter Bach. 70,000 wind power systems have since been installed with Jupiter Bach housings, which are manufactured at six sites in Denmark, the USA, China, Poland and Lithuania. 1,100 employees work across a total production area of 63,000 m2. In 2003 and 2006 – years before the foundation of Jupiter Bach – the predecessor companies set up two sites in Lithuania for manufacturing the motor housings on the wind power systems, also known as gondolas. The hubs – in other words, the ends of the wind turbines on which the three huge rotors are mounted – are also manufactured at the Jupiter Bach plants.

One of Jupiter Bach’s production sites in Lithuania is equipped with a state-of-the-art robotic CNC machining cell that is critically important for the leading global development and production of motor and hub housings. The area around the cell is very dusty due to the machining work, which means that fire detection poses a huge challenge that has to be overcome. The Securiton partner in Lithuania – UAB Argus – came to the conclusion that the SecuriSmoke ASD 535 HD aspirating smoke detector from Securiton was the most reliable and suitable solution for this special application. Once the decision makers at Jupiter Bach in Lithuania were on board, UAB Argus had to find out how the early warning systems could be positioned and programmed most effectively – which they were able to do to the satisfaction of all involved. With SecuriSmoke ASD 535 HD, Jupiter Bach in Lithuania is now protected by an aspirating smoke detector that has been designed for use in particularly dusty or wet environments.
