Klaipedos Baldai Lituania

Wooden furniture manufacturer

Safety first at a wooden furniture manufacturer.

The Lithuanian port city of Klaipėda is a major production site one of the world’s largest furniture retailers. Klaipėdos baldai specialises in the series production of drawers made of veneered plywood, and exports more than 2.5 million pieces of furniture each year. The company was on the lookout for a reliable solution for early smoke detection and found what they were looking for at Securiton. SecuriSmoke ASD now monitors the exhaust air and can detect any smoke development in good time.

Klaipėdos baldai is located in Klaipėda, Lithuania, a port city on the Baltic Sea around 120 km north-east of the Russian city of Kaliningrad and almost 300 km north-west of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. Founded in 1954, the company now employs 920 staff and has factory facilities stretching over 20,000 m2. Klaipėdos baldai specialises in the series production of furniture made of veneered plywood with a natural wood coating. With the installation of new technologies, the company has also started production of pigmented furniture in addition to veneered furniture. In 2020, the production of panels on frames was started and the simple assembly solution with wedge dowels introduced. The main product range consists of drawers in all shapes and sizes. Klaipėdos baldai produces more than 2.5 million pieces of furniture each year.

How can you detect a tiny smouldering fire quickly in the vast, modern furniture production facilities at Klaipėdos baldai? Following some in-depth research, local Securiton partner UAB Argus found the perfect solution for the customer. The company utilises state-of-the-art, robotised production technologies, but the search for a reliable solution for the early detection of smoke was a major challenge, with condensation and temperature ranges between -25 and +30 °C posing a particular problem.
After several tests and analyses, UAB Argus ultimately decided to install SecuriSmoke ASD from Securiton on the roof of the production halls in order to sample the air close to the filter in the exhaust systems. The skilled technicians at UAB Argus were able to meet all challenges through the clever use of the Securiton aspirating smoke detectors, ultimately offering their customer an extremely effective fire detection solution.
